Independence day is bullshit.
At a time like now, who wants to celebrate this dystopian mess masquerading as "independence?" Instead, let's create our own interdependence- after all, it will be the only way out of this. So Marina and I are hosting a barbeque at my place to build community, share abundance, and support essential organizing work by & for some of those most harmed by so-called "independence."
Come hang out.
There will be a make-your-own taco bar (with carnivore and vegan options) as well as beers, booze, and NA options.
We'll have cheap beers and shots available on a pay-what-you-can but suggested donation of $2 each. All funds will go to either the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights or Life is Work (more info on these orgs below). Cash/venmo/QR codes for direct donations are accepted, and no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Wear your best anti-ICE attire.
You're welcome to bring a side to share, but no pressure. Just bring yourselves. Let's build stronger communities.
