Speculative Practice: Inciting Liberatory Futures

Welcome to the future. A time that lives, not in a distant land or imagined utopia, but alongside us and within us—between us—everyday.

As we face the violence of authoritarianism and late-stage capitalism, we know we must build while we dismantle. We must live into a liberated future that is closer than it sometimes appears.

This is an invitation to spend the summer solstice with other dreamers envisioning that liberated future together.

“Speculative Practice” will be an evening of food, art and vision. A next step inspired by our winter dinner, “Beginning Times.”

This time we also encourage folks to bring new people! Space is limited, so if you have someone in mind get them rsvp’d pronto.

We’d love if a few attendees brought something they are working on to share. This can be visual art, writing, an idea, a photo, anything! If you’re interested, message Sarah [s.stuteville @ gmail] for details 💌

For dinner we’ll have a “pie potluck.” Savory, sweet, hand, Shepherd’s, quiche, empanada…Whatever your favorite form of crust and filling most welcome!

If you’re interested in bringing food, let Jessica [partnowjess @ gmail] know for coordination purposes 🥧

After dinner, we’ll engage in some generative collaboration, inspired by the prompt:

“What must die to be born?”

On the longest day of the year, let’s stretch the light towards a liberated future 🌞 🌕

"What goes too long unchanged destroys itself. The forest is forever because it dies and dies and so lives." -Ursula K Le Guin
